Dress Code & Buying Guides

Selwyn House School ~ Dress Code The Selwyn House School (SHS) uniform is designed to suit different developmental stages of our students and teach them to dress appropriately for all occasions and circumstances. While the dress code is conservative in style, it offers some flexibility for seasonal changes and student’s individual expression. The school expects that parents and students will try to understand the spirit of the dress code and abide by it. Most clothing can be purchased through the school’s Argyle Shop. If you are in doubt as to the suitability of a piece of clothing for uniform wear, please refer to the buying guides on the Argyle Shop webpage and consult with our Argyle Shop staff before your purchase, particularly in regard to permissible footwear. It is expected that parents will cooperate in seeing that their sons are properly dressed and that their blazers, ties and pants are cleaned regularly and mended promptly. It is preferred that students arrive at and leave the school in uniform. No items of clothing other than those specified below may be worn with the uniform. Caps, hats and Selwyn House athletic hooded sweatshirts may be worn to and from school and at outdoor recess, but they may not be worn in the buildings or classrooms. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. All clothing items should be clearly labeled with the owner’s name.
